Dice explains what’s included in the Battlefield 4 Beta

The beta of Battlefield 4 has launched for those qualifying for the Exclusive access. However, that only lasts for a few days before it opens up on October 4 for everyone. So what can you expect?
EA and Dice have put together the video you see below explaining exactly what the beta offers in terms of gameplay. It’s only a small subset of the gameplay and locations featured in the final game, but there’s enough here to keep you playing for many days to come.
This is a multiplayer-focused beta. When joining you get to play as either US or Chinese soldiers as part of a live fire training exercise known as the Siege of Shanghai. US soldiers are on the offensive trying to take control of the area, where as the Chinese are tasked with defending it. The main location to defend or infiltrate is a huge skyscraper (which you can choose to destroy if all else fails).
The game will split players into squads of between two and five soldiers, and there will be four soldier classes to choose from (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon). Assault types are able to heal and revive other players, Support types can lay down heavy fire and replenish ammunition. The Engineer type specializes in vehicles, both destroying and fixing them. And finally you have the Recon type, which is the best choice for anyone who likes sniping.

As for gameplay, there’s two modes: Conquest and Domination. Both consist of capture the flag-style gameplay, but Conquest is more involved. In Conquest you are tasked with capturing several key positions while also taking out the enemy and using a range of transports (land, sea, and air) to do so. Both teams have a set amount of tickets, which get depleted every time a team mate is killed or you lose a position. You win by wiping out your opponents ticket count completely.
Domination on the other hand focuses in on infantry-only gameplay. You still need to capture key locations, but only need to hold two locations to see your opponent’s ticket count start to decrease. The more locations you hold the faster it will decrease.

During the beta Battlelog 2.0 will be active and available , meaning you can setup a smartphone or tablet alongside your PC and use it for additional in-game info. EA and Dice also want beta players to use the forums heavily so they can get as much info as possible about how the game is performing and playing.
Don’t forget the beta is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 with full details of how to gain access available on the Battlefieldwebsite. If you’re planning to play on PC, you’ll need Origin installed and will have to own a PC that meets the minimum system requirements.
